Mending Hearts is a ministry to women who have experienced the trauma of sexual abuse.

The ministry originated at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, inspired by a sexual abuse survivor. The focus is to help women of all Christian traditions embrace God’s love and incredible healing power.

Through scripture, Christ’s promise of hope, peace and comfort comes alive to help heal the hurts of sexual abuse.

Incest is the most common form of sexual abuse in the United States. Some studies report that up to one in three women are victims of sexual abuse before their eighteenth birthday. The effects of incest are far reaching and long lasting but do not have to be permanent.

The light of God’s love can penetrate any darkness.

God calls each one of us to a new life with Him… one filled with joy and peace. How can we find out about God’s teachings and promises? Through his words in scripture. He wants us to let go of what no longer works in our lives – the pain, the fear and uncertainty – and come to Him to find that newness within ourselves… rid ourselves of the old and find a new heart and a new spirit… no longer fearful but full of light and promise.

Mending Hearts can be that “Time of Newness.”

What will make you new in Christ?

What do you yearn for in your life?

Where can you find joy and peace?

Come and let us find it together.
